Blog Entry #6
In my Blog Entry 5, I talked about how my service-learning school is a "title one" school, and how everyone inside the school is very diverse, but all of them are supported in one way or another.
What areas of diversity do you see in your service-learning classroom and how is the teacher addressing them?
The main thing that I would say I saw a lot of in my classroom was how the teacher would give extra help to those that had IEP's, mostly because English wasn't there first language or because of a birth defect. I would actually very often help these students. It was never anything very exciting or hard, I would usually just help by reading a test to them or helping them one on one remember or tell them the certain steps that they have to take in order to get the right answer to a problem.
How is the teacher differentiating instruction for the diverse learners in her/his classroom?
Kind of like I said, the main differentiating instructions would be a little help on a math test or simply reading the instructions to them. A lot of these students would also get extra help outside of just this classroom with certain resource teachers and whatnot.
