- Which learning theory does the teacher in your service-learning placement seem to use the most? Provide examples from your observations to support your claim.
I would have to say that my service learning teacher mostly uses behaviorism. Even after asking her this question, she agreed with me that she mostly uses behaviorism in her classroom. She said that she believes it is the best way to teach. When they complete a task for you, you complete a task for them (or give them some sort of reinforcement).
I've only been observing her for one day so far, but the main time that I saw her using this theory was when a student asked if she (the student) could go get a toy out for recess. She responded with something in the sorts of, "once you complete that math assignment, then you can". I really thought this was good. I think it shows a certain kind of respect for the students. Letting them know that they are heard and understood, but there are a few things that have to happen beforehand. This is the way I hope to teach in my classroom.
